Nerding Out With TED

I do admit confidently, that sometimes I can nerd out quite a bit. I don’t really care, if it interests me then hey, it’s okay.

Once in a while though, I’ll go on Wikipedia to look something up or read into whatever is on my mind and I end up Wiki-surfing. I go from one subject to another and another just looking random things up. For example, the other day I went on Wikipedia to look into that new show called Terra Nova, then I ended up reading about Steven Spielberg, then onto Stephen King, Jack Layton, Fallout 3 and lastly, Rio.

Maybe I have an addiction to learning random facts. I could be like that random fact guy who sits in a corner, then whenever someone walks by, I’ll shuffle out of hiding yelling “RANDOM FACT!” and give them one. Even if their running away.

But really, that’s not even what this post is about, and I shouldn’t be creeping out the people that have to put up with reading this neither. It’s more about how I can nerd out a tonne with TED.

Who’s TED anyways? I don’t even know a TED.

Well, okay, TED isn’t a person, its a nonprofit organization that specializes in “ideas which are worth spreading”. It’s basically a conference full of guest speakers that have some innovative ideas for the world. I gotta say, some are pretty inspirational and creative. It has all kinds of people giving the talks, from scientists, to actors, to magicians, soldiers, writers, dancers, investors, etc. Any person, even just regular people that have a big idea.

So if you feel like nerding out, seeing something inspirational or really cool, give it a try! Below are a couple of my favorite conferences.

This TED conference video features Marco Tempest, he’s a magician that uses iPods as his magical props. While he performs, he talks about truth and lies, art and emotion. It’s really neat and worth a watch.

Here’s another one, this ones a bit longer at 18 minutes. This inspiring lady is Charity Tillemann-Dick. She had a double lung transplant and after being told by her doctor that she will never sing again, she proved them all wrong. Watch her amazing speech and musical performance if your up to it.

There’s No Words To Describe A Smile

Today I was working a dayshift over at the restaurant, it wasn’t too bad of a day neither. But during the first shift change, when one of my co-workers came in, I noticed that she must have been crying a lot today. Her eyes were all red, had that bit of sparkle to them that said they were crying and plus her attitude hinted towards the fact as well. Being me of course, I felt a little bad and wanted to cheer her up a bit. I don’t know why, but when someone around me has been having a bad day or anything of the sort, I’m not really the type of person who will just brush it off and ignore it. Even if its somebody I don’t know. So I started to do what I do best.

Of course I gave her a hug first, I didn’t ask what was wrong or anything, I’m not going to prolong whatever it is that’s making her feel down. Plus, if she felt she needed to tell someone, she know’s I’m an excellent listener. I’m an even better hugger though, everyone at camp told me that I give the best bear hugs ever, so that actually makes me a bit proud of the skill. Plus, I love hugs! I think they are the best when you or someone else is feeling a little less than normal, they are always the perfect pick uppers. When I hugged her though, I could tell that she appreciated it and that’s the feeling that makes me know today was a good day because I could help make somebody elses a little better. It’s who I am.

Of course though, for anyone that knows me, they know I wont stop until I accomplish getting a smile. So my mission wasn’t over yet in trying to pick up one of my workmates day.

After working with her a few times, I know what she appreciates, and that is someone who’s sincere and has that kind of humour as well. So I started to tell her a story about when I was eleven. It was about this one time (when I was eleven obviously), I really wanted to see that movie Jaws. I thought it looked really awesome but my parents didn’t want me watching it, so I never was allowed. But one night, it was on TV at 2 AM, so I snuck out of bed and into the living room just to watch Jaws. Probably not the best of my ideas neither, considering the entire time I was watching it, I didn’t move a muscle because I was so creeped out from the movie and too scared to even twitch. Even when the movie ended, I didn’t get up from the couch because I was too afraid to make it all the way to my room. So needless to say, I ended up spending the night on the couch, without even a wink of sleep. I never did tell my parents about that neither, I just pretended I was up before them the next morning to get ready for school. The worst part though, was the constant nightmares for almost a week because of that movie! I don’t remember what they were about, I just remember they caused some pretty rough nights.

Of course I threw some jokes in there though when I told my co-worker, and she seemed to appreciate it all, I think I even saw a bit of a curl of a smile in the corner of her lips. But unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention enough to read into that microexpression.

After I caught that hint of a bit of a smile though, I knew the one thing that would seal the deal, it always worked and never failed. It’s something that I learned from one of the safety officers we had when I went on a trip to Calgary as a non-commissioned officer in Cadets. Her name was Captain Anderson, and everytime we were unloading the bus, she felt the need to get a smile out of everyone before they climbed off at the destination. So while you approached her, she would say really loudly “SSSSMMMIIIIILLLLLEEE!” and really annoyingly I might add as well. She always did it in quite a high pitched voice and dragged the ‘I’ sound quite a lot as well. Sadly for her, it didn’t work as well as she anticipated. Although, to me, I knew it was all about the execution to get it to work and I perfected what she wasn’t able to do.

So if we rewind a bit…

Ljankdjf ajkdfnkadjkfa danjf bmadjkfnajds fahjdnfna *Moves really fast backwards* kaskdj adfn adnfjsd fakndfn ajd naf

As soon as I saw what I thought was a crack of a smile I looked my fellow worker in the eye, gave her a crooked smile of my own and said excruciatingly loudly, high pitched and with that emphasis on the ‘I’, “SMIIIIIILLEEE!” and just for a good measure, I added a really quick but sharp “SMILE!” afterwards. It worked just how it was supposed to and I knew I successfully completed my mission when I saw that huge grin spread across her face.

So there’s a bit of a glimpse in what I try to accomplish everyday when I can. I love making people smile and when I do, I know that day wasn’t a waste at all because I could do so. In a way, its what I live for and I think I do a pretty good job too if I don’t say so myself.

Where people may propose that a picture can say a thousand words, I propose that a smile can make a thousand words seem like nothing, just the feeling of getting one smile out of somebody who needs it is beyond any of the best words to describe it. So keep that in mind next time you see someone who’s having a bad day, even if you don’t know them.

Quotes From The Month Of July

By the time I post this, it will be August officially! So that means I have a bunch of quotes to post. Before I get to that though, I thought I’d mention that the month of July for me was a lot better than the month of June! But still lacking as compared to the stellar May that I had.

Some good points of this month were the workout routine I got back into, a few great hikes and even found a beautiful waterfall yesterday while on a hike! I finally managed to read Under The Dome as well as Dyke Van Dyke’s memoir AND bought the newest Bond book. I also added a lot to owning every Michael Crichton book. I also saw some pretty awesome movies this month as well, the best of those being Super 8, Captain America, Fighter and American History X.

But enough of that, here are all the quotes that were featured in the month of July. Enjoy.

Beautiful Way To End The Night: Skyscraper

I just listened to Demi Lovato’s new single called “Skyscraper”.

I gotta say its beautiful and the sound from her raw voice really shows a tonne of talent and that she has a beautiful story of a life. It’s amazing to hear the emotions and feel her voice, she has a lot going for her and a very bright future.

After hearing the song, I did a little bit of research though and I understand all the emotions and feelings that she really let out in the song after getting through all of her personal difficulties. She is a trooper and someone I now respect a tonne, she’s a pure idol to all the youth out in the world and true to what she is and who she will be.

But here’s the song and hopefully you enjoy it as much as myself that you buy it off of iTunes. Its easy to find being the number one single in the states and currently number four here in Canada.

Lyrics can be found below along with the iTunes download link.

Skyscraper – Demi Lovato

Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching teardrops in my hands
Only silence, as it’s ending, like we never had a chance.
Do you have to make me feel like there’s nothing left of me?

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I’m made of glass
Like I’m made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper

As the smoke clears
I awaken and untangle you from me
Would it make you feel better to watch me while I bleed
All my windows still are broken but I’m standing on my feet
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I’m made of glass
Like I’m made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper

Go run run run I’m gonna stay right here
Watch you disappear yeah
Go run run run yeah it’s a long way down
But I’m closer to the clouds up here

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I’m made of glass
Like I’m made of paper
Ohh
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper

Life “Under The Dome”

It’s been a while since I stayed up late just to finish a book, I actually think the last time I did that was last summer when I read Michael Crichton’s Pirate Latitudes. But that’s what I did last night. It ended up being a little past two in the morning when I finally finished Under The Dome, by Stephen King.

I haven’t read too many books by Stephen King, but from what I did read, I was a little confused on how I felt about his writing. He always seemed to have something crazy or insane going on that you could never really predict. Sometimes things just ended up much too far-fetched in his books than I would have liked (hence my mixed feelings). But there’s no doubt he’s an amazing author none-the-less.

In a way he reminds me of kid in a candy shop with his writing, just by the way he seems to always have something going on, even in the slower parts of his books (which sometimes don’t exist). I think the one thing that makes him such a good writer though and what I like about his style is that he knows exactly how to frustrate the reader with the events that occur throughout his work. He is no doubt, a literary genius.

As I said though, I did finish his book, Under The Dome, last night (More like early this morning) and I was quite impressed.

It made an impression on me to say the least.

I got the book for my birthday last October from my parents, and started reading it that night. I didn’t make it very far before realizing that I wouldn’t have much time to get through such a thick book efficiently with my busy schedule. So I stopped reading and put it down until I could find more time to get through it. It was a fairly big undertaking, being one of the longest novels I’ve read (killing many trees at 1072 pages), so I waited out the busy school year before starting the book again.

After reading just the first fifty or so pages on my birthday though, I knew it was going to be a great read and everytime I looked at the huge novel on my desk, I would think to myself, “I can’t wait to read that!”. Finally did, after such a long wait too.

I found that Under The Dome really was an amazing book and everything I had hoped for. It was constantly eventful, creatively brilliant, extremely intriguing and compelling, and very frustrating (in a good way, if that makes any sense).

The elephant of a book featured an entire town in Maine, called Chester’s Mill. It was the quaint sort of place where everyone in town knew each other and was fairly tight knit. So with that said, there was an entire towns population that Stephen King had to play with for the novel, which he took with imagination and in quite a smart manner. Of course though, there were some characters that stuck out more than others as being more of the novels main characters. Some of these characters featured an ex-military officer, a journalist/owner of the newspaper, a power hungry town selectman/used car salesman/drug lore, a thug turned sociopath and a physician’s assistant turned full out town doctor.

As a quick synopsis, the book is about a mysterious dome that drops down over the town of Chester’s Mill on a nice mid-October day. As the novel continues, there are various attempts by the military to break through the dome, all the while, the towns second selectman is working to gain control of the entire town in a power thirsty attempt to become the inspiring leader everyone looks up to and follows. But there is a small group of individuals against that, fit with the task to take control of the town by the United States government. This stand off basically starts a war between the two sides, one with a lot of trickery and manipulation. The novel features several climaxes with tonnes of unpredictable turns and twists that really kept me reading and is one outstanding book.

It’s not just about the psychology of being stuck under an invisible dome neither, feeling like a bunch of ants under a magnifying glass. It really demonstrates the impact people have on the environment as well by showing the deteriorating air quality coming from the small town due to human foolishness and an increasingly thick layer of grime had been forming on the dome.

Even though its a huge undertaking, being such a long book, I think its a great read and would suggest this novel to anyone looking for excitement that will keep them guessing and make them think about the possibilities of such an event occuring.

I think the thing that made me really connect with the novel was the fact that I live in a town that resembles Chester`s Mill. We are basically the same size, have a lot of the same businesses and share a similar community view. Sometimes I even wonder if that happened in my town, what part would I play if any?

I think out of all the characters, I would be similar to that of Scarecrow Joe’s stance. He was kinda working behind the scenes but fairly smart, able to work things out logically and plan in a high stress situation. I think that’s something I would do. I’m not the type to just sit around and wait to see what happens, but I’m also not the type who likes to get noticed a lot, so behind the scenes would my specialty, along with my quick thinking. Or so I think anyways.

I also know, that if it were my town, the air would get thick extremely fast with all of our pollution and stupid people everywhere. But in the end, I think we would definitely work things out better than those of Chester’s Mill, especially since we don’t have any really power hungry citizens. Then again, you know what people are apt to do in a situation of that calliper.

But I hope that someone else shares their thoughts and maybe even inspire somebody to take on Under The Dome by Stephen King.

A Songwriting Session: “(She is) My Dreams Work Of Art”

Music is a pretty big portion of my life. I do play the guitar and played the Saxophone; karaoke and DDR is one of my most favorite past times and I can usually be caught singing some sort of song for every occasion.

But songwriting is actually very new to me.

Sure, I have written a couple fun and goofy songs that make no sense (like the ROFL-Copter Song), but this time I decided to sit down and really do some thinking and real writing. I didn’t really expect everything to go perfect and smoothly; it really didn’t and actually seems a little short. But I came out with a product, so I thought I should share it and get some feedback; after all, other people’s critiques and opinions is a great way for me learn and improve. Who know’s, maybe when I get a little better with writing words into lyrics, I will add some guitar parts to go along with it.

When I started writing this, I decided to go for something from my own experience, I figured that would be the easiest thing to write about. So I decided to write one about love of course, since its so generic and you can usually add a lot of fluff when needed. It’s about basically when I had a long distance and loving relationship (before the bitch cheated on me). We talk every day and we are basically twins, we had so much in common. Plus when we talk, we are free to talk about literally everything and anything, which is a liberty I only share with people I’m close to in my life. Now don’t make the mistake in thinking I’m still hooked on her, I’m far from that. In fact sometimes wonder why I even dated her for so long. Maybe the next song will be how she cheated on me to solidify that.

But here it is, I’m calling it “(She is) My Dreams Work of Art”:

God infiltrated my dreams one night,
Stole the girl and put her in my life.
Everything about her fit so perfectly,
I knew he had made her just for me.

I never saw it comin’
We were just innocently talkin’
But when I finally saw her eyes,
I knew she was perfect;
My angel in disguise.

Even though she’s so far away,
She makes me feel lucky everyday.
Even though we’re worlds apart,
I need to meet her, to stop this bleeding heart.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.

So tonight when she goes to sleep,
She can close her eyes and have the sweetest dreams.
Cuz not even this distance could keep us apart,
I knew I had to have her from the very start.

Then when she awakes the next day,
I’ll be gently waiting on her balcony.
But when I come I’ll be there to stay,
Where our love can dance the night away.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.

Even though she’s so far away,
She makes me feel lucky everyday.
Even though we’re worlds apart,
I need to meet, to stop this bleeding heart.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.
She is my dreams work of art.

My Gay Best Friend

Throughout my childhood and going through the various stages of adolescent schooling, I really only had one best friend.

His name is Steve.

Best Friends

We met a couple weeks after kindergarten had started and our friendship took off from there, leaving us as best friends still to this day (something like 16 years later). Growing up I never really knew Steve was gay, he was always a little different and sometimes I did suspect it, but that didn’t really matter neither; I just kinda brushed it off and didn’t put too much thought into it.

Even though we were best friends and could talk about literally anything, the one thing that we never really talked about was girls. I’m not exactly sure why… I mean of course Steve wasn’t attracted to them, so I guess he never got that urge to talk about them with me. I didn’t mind and didn’t really care neither, I come from a tiny town with only farm girls basically. So with that said, I didn’t develop very many crushes in my adolescent years, since I never had an attraction to the farmgirl type. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining at all, in fact, I actually think all that was a good thing in developing who I am as an individual. I think having Steve as my best friend and hanging out with him everyday since kindergarten gave me the respect that I have always had for girls and made me a more understanding and sensitive guy.

Once we hit grade 12, I began to question his sexuality a little more than usual. There’s actually a day that I’ll aways remember, mostly because Steve infused it into my memory: April 6th, 2008. On that day and for no real reason, we were talking about that hit movie called High School Musical. We had never seen it, but didn’t really understand what all the commotion was about with it. So while we were on the phone we did a quick research on what it was, who played in it, etc. We soon discovered that the teen heart-throb Zac Efron was the star of the High School Musical movies.

I know it probably sounds a little odd I’m talking about High School Musical now, but what I foolishly did next is the reason why.

After finding out that this Zac Efron guy was the star of the movies, I sent Steve an email entitled “Pooooo” featuring a photo of Zac Efron in a white muscle shirt (The same photo that’s beside this paragraph). This set off a frenzy and Steve officially had his first boy crush from that day forward.

Everyday he would literally spend on the internet researching Zac Efron, looking up videos of Zac Efron on YouTube, photos all over the web and all the movies he appeared in. He was obsessed.

A couple weeks later, on the first day of spring break, Steve was set to travel to Ottawa ON, and I was set to head out to Victoria BC. But the day before, Steve managed to borrow the first and second High School Musical from some girl a few grades below us. Then that night, he brought them to my house and we watched both of them back to back. I have to admit, I didn’t think they were all too bad, besides the cheesy acting and dumbwit teenage drama.

Sadly the movies had some catchy tunes, which from that day forward would constantly get stuck in my head. Steve didn’t help neither by singing all the songs during class, lunch break and anytime he could. He listened to the soundtracks back to back to back for weeks. It was really quite an insane end to our grade twelve year. All thanks to me and my “Pooooo” email from months earlier.

After a full summer spent at a summer camp together, we were headed right into first year university. Not too much had changed though, Steve still obsessed over Zac Efron and continued to sing along with the High School Musical songs on a daily basis.

On the eve of my 19th birthday though, we decided that we would go to the theaters and catch High School Musical 3: Senior Year, on October 24th, 2008. We made sure to catch the late, 10 PM showing as well, to make sure there wouldn’t be too many little kids around. But that didn’t really work. The theater was packed full of children still that late in the night.

The movie was overall pretty good, much better quality and build than the first two, along with way better acting, music and dilemmas. Although what I remember most is how Steve squeeled when Zac Efron first showed up on the big screen. He was playing basketball, singing, all sweaty and once again, in a muscle shirt as his jersey. I actually think Steve may have out-squeeled most of the little girls. That’s quite impressive.

After the movies, we went back to my dorm room as Steve decided to stay the night on my floor. I know that seeing High School Musical 3 that night was bad enough, but Steve really wanted to watch the Hannah Montana – Miley Cyrus 3D Concert (featuring the Jonas Brothers). I felt nice, so I put it in and we started watching.

Now, after seeing High School Musical 3 and hearing Steve squeel over Zac Efron, it did get me a little suspicious about his sexuality. But once the Jonas Brothers came on stage, that really planted the idea into my head. Especially considering the way he shouted “Joe! Jonas!” when they came on stage.

It was in that moment that I asked him, “Steve, are you gay?”.

My Best Friend Steve

He didn’t really have to answer me though, from his actions I probably could have guessed the answer. After being best friends for so long, you kinda get to know each others body language and be able to read things off of each others faces. But I gotta say, the face he made at that moment was like none I had ever seen him make before, it was new. He just got up and walked over to the sink in my kitchenette and kinda just stood there for a moment, staring into open space.

Eventually, as Miley Cyrus was entering back on stage with her song “Start All Over”, Steve quietly answered almost in a daze with a “yessss-s-s”. After answering, it was almost he snapped back into real life and realized what he had done. He had finally admitted to someone his biggest secret that he has probably ever kept.

With that, he gracefully said, “I feel like I’m going to throw up!”.

For the rest of the evening, we just went for a walk across the quiet city, to kinda just cool down and make Steve’s head stop rushing. During that night, Steve told me everything he was hiding inside that was never released to anyone else besides his own conscience.

That night really showed me what being a best friend was all about and gave it a lot deeper of a meaning. It also helped me really understand that a homosexual individual isn’t all that much different from myself, they are just a normal person getting through life and hoping to fall in love, just this time with another man, instead of a woman.

Top 10 Inspiring People In My Life

I figured that one of my first few blog posts should be about the inspirations that I have and had in my lifetime so far.

Here they are, my Top 10 Inspiring People:

10. Jim Carrey

I find Jim Carrey to be an awesome comedian and actor and for some reason a lot of the movies he’s starred in really had an impression on me. I think the biggest reason he makes it on my list of top 10 is because of his type of humor. It much resembles the funny bone that I portray in real life as well, which is a crazy and fairly random approach, that can be quite loud and downright out of the world. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise if I adopted a lot of the stuff I do from him and his acting. Among my favorites would have to be his role in the Pet Detective movies, making them among my favorites of all time. But after following him on Twitter and reading what he has to say about life, I think he’s a really nice and upbeat guy as well that makes me able to look up to him and what he does as a professional. Showing that there’s more than just a funny bone in his body after all.

9. Mike Modano

Yes I know, I’m Canadian, so there has to be a hockey player on here! Even though he is an american, he’s pretty good I guess, especially since he’s the all time highest scoring american in the NHL. But that’s not the only reason why he’s on my top 10 list as number 9 (Yes, its suiting since his jersey number was #9 for the part of his career with Dallas). The reason he’s on my list and one of my most respected hockey players is the way that he approaches the game and has been there since the day I took interest in the game. Maybe its because he has 20 seasons in the game and just plays an old game? I’m not actually too sure. With that said, he’s a very talented hockey player with average stature and build that is a really nice guy on and off the ice. He’s the real deal and what the sport is all about.

8. Lee “Apollo” Adama

Even though he’s not a real person, the character of Apollo has to be an inspiration of mine. Coming from my favorite TV show, Battlestar Galactica (Both the new and old versions), he became an inspiration to me with the way he approached life. He was always trustworthy, being there for his family and friends through all tough bends, and the way he does everything he possibly can to save mankind. Sure, we aren’t running from the Toasters, but the characters dynamic still allows me to connect with Apollo. He always continues to battle and fight for survival no matter how many members of his family and friends parish in the events of the show. He’s a guy that I’d like to take a page out of his book, even if he isn’t a real person.

7. Dick Van Dyke

Even though I’m still fairly young, this guy still has quite the lagacy and is still being watched constantly with his collection of classics such as Marry Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Dick Van Dyke Show. He’s a man with pure and raw talent, but still a humble and very down to earth man, which earns him a lot of respect in my books. He often refers to his rise in fame as luck, but he wouldn’t be lucky if he didn’t have natural born talent already inside of him. For those that know me, they would tell you that I’m quite into the classical musicals, and its Dick Van Dyke (along with Gene Kelly) who made me really appreciate the art to them. I may sound old fashioned, but they really don’t make musicals the same anymore, so the only way to authentically see one is to watch the originals, like Dick Van Dyke.

6. Ash Ketchum

I know, I know, another character instead of a real person, but my original childhood Pokemon hero has to appear on this list. The show was my absolute favorite growing up, along with millions of other children of course too. But it really made way for my imagination, created some of the most fun experiences in my childhood and comes up in conversation fairly frequently still. Ash is a very determined guy and will stop at nothing to achieve what he wants and keep the friends he battled with and for no matter what happens. That’s devotion and makes him a great guy for kids to look up to, and an inspiring way to create a great imagination. There’s nothing I would trade for my childhood memories.

5. Bryan F. Peterson

As one of my interests and hobbies being photography, it is certain that my favorite photographer has show up in the mix somewhere. He has some incredible shots and really wonderful work that is purely world class. But he isn’t just making a living off his work, he also teaches and passes on the skills he’s learned throughout his life with classes online and in real life. I was lucky enough to experience one of his classes where he really does give a lot of one-on-one to make you into a better photographer. On top of that, he’s a really funny and charismatic guy that really knows how interact with people to create a environment that’s easy to learn from.

4. Eric Clapton

As mentioned, another passion of mine is the guitar. Eric Clapton is who I started aspiring when I was learning and I took to myself to get to know many of his songs on the guitar and learn to play them. That’s what made me stick with playing was the challenge of learning the music of one of the greatest guitar players of all times and an incredible musician. The first song I really mastered was “Layla” and that was a pretty proud moment of mine, along with learning the song “Tears In Heaven” that he wrote for his four year old son that sadly parished at such an early age. But somehow Eric Clapton found a way to make a beautiful song out of it…

3. Michael Crichton

Not too many celebrity deaths have impacted me, but when Michael Crichton died in 2008, it actually made me quite sad. I have read all of his books and own almost all of them (but plan to own all in the future). He was always my favorite author and provided me with a lot of reads that kept me up very late at night to find out what would happen next. He was a brilliant man and a brilliant writer who knew exactly how to captivate others with his words and teachings. I also look up to him being a guy that has an M.D. from Harvard, since I’m looking to start medical school in the near future. Also the way that he worked with the government in the aspects of climatology and genetic research was a real accomplishment for society.

2. Bon Jovi

My favorite band has to show up as number two. I saw them twice in concert the last couple times they were in Vancouver, have all their records and have been a fan since my early childhood. I think they really write music that can connect with really anybody, holding a lot of meaning lyrics along with a great beat and melody as well, nothing could go wrong. They also have a great influence in my guitar playing as well with great songs to rock out to and solos to figure out. A lot of their songs touch my life and my heart, so many that they have to appear as number 2.

1. My Parents

Everyone on my list is fairly well known all over the world, except these two. My parents are my biggest inspiration, which is much the same for many people out there. They are always someone I can count on and have taught the most important lessons in life, gave my biggest part of my imagination and formed me into the respectable and nice guy that I am today. For that I thank my parents and they always be number one. Amen.
