A Mall, A Girl, And A Big Bad Dude.

Lately I’ve been having some pretty intense dreams revolving around me being against everyone else in an apocalypse-like situation. It’s not a recurring dream or anything like that, just different dreams focused on that subject matter. I mainly remember two of them, but I’m just going to talk about the one which I remember most.

It started fairly abstract, I never really suspected the dream to end up the way it was. But it began with me wandering around some sort of desert-like area, but it was more cold than hot. I guess it could be considered a wasteland more than anything. Mostly though, it wasn’t colourful at all; no vegetation, no people, no animals. Just myself wandering alone, in search for a place to call home for a night and praying to find some sort of food.

Somewhere along the way, I noticed a person in the distance. They seemed very far, so I thought it may have been a mirage or just my mind messing with the reality of the situation. But as I closed the distance between us, I began to realize that the person was real. Not only that, but there was some sort of large building in the horizon as well.

At first encounter, the man didn’t really seem to trust me, his body gestures suggested that he found me as a threat. But after reassuring him I wouldn’t hurt him or do anything bad, he reluctantly guided me to the building.

The building ended up being a large mall that now stood as a refuge and shelter for survivors of the apocalypse that occurred. The entire town inside the mall was controlled by one guy, I never caught his name in the dream, nor did I meet him until later. But the first thing that I observed, was that the people of this small colony within the mall looked up to him and bowed down to him. In fact, if they didn’t, they would often be punished by his protective crew. I guess the reason that they followed him rituously was that he provided them with a home and protection. Although, as a result, I would consider him corrupt by the power he held.

When I got inside, people immediately noticed that I was a new face. Some of them looked worried about this, but the hospitable ones took me to a bench of sorts where I was able to get some sleep.

I awoke from the feeling of being watched. So when I sat up, I automatically glanced around to see who or what disturbed my peace. I noticed it was a bunch of goons hanging out at a once been coffee booth nearby. I could immediately tell that they wanted to start trouble with me, the unfamiliar person. I could tell by their body gestures and the looks they were giving me. Next thing I knew, they were approaching me and each pulling out an array of weapons, from guns to knives. Observing that, I quickly stood up and weaved into a crowd of people around the food court area of this mall. They were still all after me, and caught up, beginning to throw punches, swing their weapons and cock their guns.

For some reason, I had these amazingly smooth and quick reflexes (that I obviously don’t have in real life), and fought away most of the goons without getting hurt and much like in action movies. Until one starting shooting. He missed me, but hit several people in the crowd, making everyone scream and begin to flee.

Suddenly, the one goon that was doing the shooting was shot himself. It was a fatal hit to the head. After a scan of where it came from, I found the man that did the damage. He was huge, at least 7 feet tall and biceps as large as my head. He fired his shot from an entire floor above, with his gun still smoking from the muzzle. I knew instantly, that was the power hungry individual that basically ran the place. Not to mention, he was surrounded by quite the number of personal guards.

Next thing I knew, this man was right in front of me, telling me that although I’m a new face, I better catch on to the rules and flow of the place if I wanted to stay there alive. But most importantly, not to defy his rule.

With that in mind, I went about exploring the colonized mall, familiarizing myself with it since it would be my home for at least a bit. While exploring, I bump into this girl (I know, all of my dreams have some sort of random girl for whatever reason), and when I look at her, we meet each others gazes. She was a beautiful girl, but like all my dreams, I can never remember what she looks like, only what I thought about her when we met.

All I thought was that she was a beautiful girl.

After meeting each others eyes, we instantly connected with that electric feeling you get when you meet the eyes of someone amazing. So she joined me and showed me around the mall, telling me about the people and revealing all the secrets she knew about the place. Even saying that the people were actually afraid of the guy that was in charge, but were too grateful for a home to complain.

We got to know each other fairly well and talked nonstop; she even gave me a place to spend the night. It was at that point that I told her I wouldn’t be able to stay for long under their leaders rule, and would have to move on like I always have. She understood, but I could tell that inside she was quite sad. As was I.

The next morning though, I must have gotten too friendly with the wrong girl. When I awoke there were some of the leaders security guards waiting for me to stir. With that, I knew I’d have to make my move then and now. So I set out with a swift yet elegant attack on the security men, and began to run towards the mall exit.

It was looking as though I would make it too, I could see the doors straight ahead and nothing was blocking the way out into the wasteland again. Then all of a sudden there were several security guards and the mall colony leader taking up all the space in front of the doors. With my exit blocked, the only choice I had was to stop and observe my surroundings for another escape.

There was no other escape though.

As I was continuing my frantic search, the leader pulled out that beautiful girl I had met and had her all tied up. She was crying and obviously distraught of the entire situation. I don’t remember what the leader dude man said, but I know it was hostile, especially since he took off his jacket to deal with me himself; apparently with his bare hands too since he handed off his weapons and such to his security team. The one observation I made, was that guy was triple my size.

I prepared myself for him as he slowly made his gradual approach, cracking his knuckles and chuckling at me for being a lot smaller. I knew my only advantage was that I would probably be able to move a lot faster than he would.

As soon as he was close enough, he already began to throw the punches, sending the first for the head. I was able to dodge that one pretty quickly, but it didn’t deter him at all. He started throwing more punches, each of which I was able to dodge as well, but some were pretty close since I could feel the air disturbance from his swings.

I began to back up the immobile escalators, knowing that being at a higher ground would serve as an advantage to me for a little and give me a chance to think. I didn’t think of much though as I was quickly running out of escalator to go up, so once at the top, I hopped over the escalator railing onto a ledge that apparently held some plants at one point.

He followed in same manner, except moreso stepping over the railing with his massive height.

As I backed towards the edge of the ledge I knew this was the time I needed to do something, so when he was once again close enough to throw a punch, I ducked and tucked away behind him quickly. Then I immediately gave him a kick to the side as hard as I could.

Thanks to his missed swing, he lost his balance a little; mixed with my hard kick, the leader plummeted off of the ledge and onto the ground. I’m not sure if the fall killed him, but he was definitely injured. Luckily, his guards and all the people were too stunned to pay attention to me anymore, and went immediately to help their ferocious leader. Plus some were a bit afraid of me, the dangerous new guy. But as I was exiting, I made sure to untie that beautiful girl.

Who Is That Beautiful Mystery Girl?

Then I left.

Just like that.

I didn’t even look back even though I really wanted to, just to see that beautiful girl one more time.

A couple of kilometres down the wasteland, I began to hear the sound of someone running towards me. I figured it was the guards coming with extra ammo to get me back for what I did to their boss. Either that or the leader guy was alright and coming after me.

When I turned around though, I was surprised.

Probably the best surprise I ever had in that apocalyptic world, and probably the first smile I had since too.

It was that beautiful girl, coming to join me and be my partner on whatever adventure I was heading to next.

A Tuxedo Mask Among Us

Alright, I know Halloween is still a little more than two months away from now. But I already decided what I’m going to be. I made this decision the other day to fulfil a childhood dream I have always had.

Growing up I watched a little bit of television like most children. I didn’t watch all that much due to my wild imagination and inability to sit still, but there were a few shows that could grab my attention. Some of those were Pokemon, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball Z, Boy Meets World and of course Sailor Moon.

While watching Sailor Moon though, I got a bit of an attachment to Tuxedo Mask. He was such a suave and brilliant hero, that I wanted to be just like him! Plus I had a bit of a crush on Sailor Mars, so I figured I would be able to attract her by being Tuxedo Mask!

So this Halloween I’ve decided I’m going to put away a little bit of cash to get a really good and authentic Tuxedo Mask costume going. I’ve done some searching for the main dressage, so I’m looking at something over a hundred dollars. But that’s alright, to be one of my childhood heroes would be like those Mastercard priceless commercials. For me it would go like this:

University Tuition: $4000

Visiting San Francisco: $495

Tap Shoes: $114

Mr. Bert: $75

Tube of Toothpaste: $1.99

Becoming Tuxedo Mask for a day: F%$&ing Epically Priceless.

So I’m going all out, I’ll even buy a bunch of roses to throw at cute girls or something! Maybe I’ll even save the day or something really crazy like what the real Tuxedo Mask would do. AND I already know I can pull off the hair too!

It’s going to be a good Halloween this year I think, has anyone else decided this early what they are going to be? And don’t say your too old to dress up for Halloween, that’s bull poopy, life is meant to be enjoyed and filled with fun times.

There’s No Words To Describe A Smile

Today I was working a dayshift over at the restaurant, it wasn’t too bad of a day neither. But during the first shift change, when one of my co-workers came in, I noticed that she must have been crying a lot today. Her eyes were all red, had that bit of sparkle to them that said they were crying and plus her attitude hinted towards the fact as well. Being me of course, I felt a little bad and wanted to cheer her up a bit. I don’t know why, but when someone around me has been having a bad day or anything of the sort, I’m not really the type of person who will just brush it off and ignore it. Even if its somebody I don’t know. So I started to do what I do best.

Of course I gave her a hug first, I didn’t ask what was wrong or anything, I’m not going to prolong whatever it is that’s making her feel down. Plus, if she felt she needed to tell someone, she know’s I’m an excellent listener. I’m an even better hugger though, everyone at camp told me that I give the best bear hugs ever, so that actually makes me a bit proud of the skill. Plus, I love hugs! I think they are the best when you or someone else is feeling a little less than normal, they are always the perfect pick uppers. When I hugged her though, I could tell that she appreciated it and that’s the feeling that makes me know today was a good day because I could help make somebody elses a little better. It’s who I am.

Of course though, for anyone that knows me, they know I wont stop until I accomplish getting a smile. So my mission wasn’t over yet in trying to pick up one of my workmates day.

After working with her a few times, I know what she appreciates, and that is someone who’s sincere and has that kind of humour as well. So I started to tell her a story about when I was eleven. It was about this one time (when I was eleven obviously), I really wanted to see that movie Jaws. I thought it looked really awesome but my parents didn’t want me watching it, so I never was allowed. But one night, it was on TV at 2 AM, so I snuck out of bed and into the living room just to watch Jaws. Probably not the best of my ideas neither, considering the entire time I was watching it, I didn’t move a muscle because I was so creeped out from the movie and too scared to even twitch. Even when the movie ended, I didn’t get up from the couch because I was too afraid to make it all the way to my room. So needless to say, I ended up spending the night on the couch, without even a wink of sleep. I never did tell my parents about that neither, I just pretended I was up before them the next morning to get ready for school. The worst part though, was the constant nightmares for almost a week because of that movie! I don’t remember what they were about, I just remember they caused some pretty rough nights.

Of course I threw some jokes in there though when I told my co-worker, and she seemed to appreciate it all, I think I even saw a bit of a curl of a smile in the corner of her lips. But unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention enough to read into that microexpression.

After I caught that hint of a bit of a smile though, I knew the one thing that would seal the deal, it always worked and never failed. It’s something that I learned from one of the safety officers we had when I went on a trip to Calgary as a non-commissioned officer in Cadets. Her name was Captain Anderson, and everytime we were unloading the bus, she felt the need to get a smile out of everyone before they climbed off at the destination. So while you approached her, she would say really loudly “SSSSMMMIIIIILLLLLEEE!” and really annoyingly I might add as well. She always did it in quite a high pitched voice and dragged the ‘I’ sound quite a lot as well. Sadly for her, it didn’t work as well as she anticipated. Although, to me, I knew it was all about the execution to get it to work and I perfected what she wasn’t able to do.

So if we rewind a bit…

Ljankdjf ajkdfnkadjkfa danjf bmadjkfnajds fahjdnfna *Moves really fast backwards* kaskdj adfn adnfjsd fakndfn ajd naf

As soon as I saw what I thought was a crack of a smile I looked my fellow worker in the eye, gave her a crooked smile of my own and said excruciatingly loudly, high pitched and with that emphasis on the ‘I’, “SMIIIIIILLEEE!” and just for a good measure, I added a really quick but sharp “SMILE!” afterwards. It worked just how it was supposed to and I knew I successfully completed my mission when I saw that huge grin spread across her face.

So there’s a bit of a glimpse in what I try to accomplish everyday when I can. I love making people smile and when I do, I know that day wasn’t a waste at all because I could do so. In a way, its what I live for and I think I do a pretty good job too if I don’t say so myself.

Where people may propose that a picture can say a thousand words, I propose that a smile can make a thousand words seem like nothing, just the feeling of getting one smile out of somebody who needs it is beyond any of the best words to describe it. So keep that in mind next time you see someone who’s having a bad day, even if you don’t know them.

Quotes From The Month Of July

By the time I post this, it will be August officially! So that means I have a bunch of quotes to post. Before I get to that though, I thought I’d mention that the month of July for me was a lot better than the month of June! But still lacking as compared to the stellar May that I had.

Some good points of this month were the workout routine I got back into, a few great hikes and even found a beautiful waterfall yesterday while on a hike! I finally managed to read Under The Dome as well as Dyke Van Dyke’s memoir AND bought the newest Bond book. I also added a lot to owning every Michael Crichton book. I also saw some pretty awesome movies this month as well, the best of those being Super 8, Captain America, Fighter and American History X.

But enough of that, here are all the quotes that were featured in the month of July. Enjoy.

Kidnapping a Girl

Here I have another dream post, one that I actually remember too. Most of the time dreams just come and go leaving me with no memory of them. Or maybe I didn’t even dream?

Even though this one was action packed and quite adventurous, it isn’t filled with dinosaurs and zombies like the last dream I had to report. Instead, this time it featured myself and a friend that a kidnapped some girl to keep her safe.

As it had started, we were just heading out somewhere. Where? I’m not quite sure, but I was driving my car with my best friend there beside me when we came across some sort of situation. A girl that was being fighting to not be forced into this weird black car with majourly tinted windows. Instead of just driving by and not worrying about it, I decided to drive right into the guy who was trying to get the girl in the car. As soon as we ran him down, my best friend grabbed the girl and shoved her into my car, then we all drove off.

The girl was freaking as we were driving, telling us that she could handle things herself and that if we did this, they would be after us too. But we  kept cool, and told her not to worry about us anymore, we were quick thinkers. Soon though, we ended up being in a high paced car chase. We were running as more of the mysterious men pursued. We ended up losing them somehow and broke off into a dirt road heading straight into the forest. We pulled into some inconspicuous hillside and spent the night. We didn’t sleep though, we were too paranoid about the men that were chasing us and plus the girl was freaking the entire time to let her go. We never really listened and ignored that request everytime, just going on and asking her questions about her life and such instead.

The next morning, my best friend went for a walk to scope out the area before we headed off again. When he came back though, he reported he saw a group of the men were heading straight towards us, the way we came. So I drove off into the forest offroad, where they wouldn’t see us when they drove by. Once we were certain they were past though, we headed back down and made it straight towards town.

Once in town, we headed to my house so I could tell my family to leave, since I was afraid those men would come to them. When we got to my house though, there was no one there and the vehicle was gone, so I knew they were safe at that moment. But as we stood on my porch, we saw those men inconveniently coming down the street to my house. I knew they would see my car and know we were here so we ran and hid on the porch. Once they came up the steps, my friend and I attacked them, knocking them both down and I took off to make sure the girl was alright. While we were taking off though, the men caught my best friend, but we kept going at his request. After running through yards and such though, we were pretty safe and broke into someone’s empty house to hide there.

While we were there, the girl and I talked and got to know each other quite well. Actually, we got quite close and were rather attracted to each other. I know who the girl is in real life, but in the dream it was as if we just met. Although, with that said, I’m not telling who the girl is.

Not long after, I did end up waking up though. I kinda wanted to get to an epic battle at the end or something, and see how it turned out. But oh well, it was rather interesting anyways and enjoyable.

The Spy With The Golden Thunderballs

I’m still slowly getting through Carte Blanche; the most recent of Bond book as written by Jeffrey Deaver. I’m only managing to read a couple chapters per day, but that’s alright, just makes the enjoyment last a little longer.

Actually, like a lot of people, I think James Bond is pretty wicked awesome! I love all of the Bond films and the character in general is so suave and brilliant, makes me want to get into the espionage business.

Back in the days of highschool though, I took French all the way until I graduated. I actually really enjoyed the class and wanted to learn as much French as I could since its Canada’s other official language. Of course, at my school we didn’t really have a real French teacher, so we didn’t get taught very well. That’s something that really stumped me when I got into grade twelve because my teacher really knew her French and made us speak it only. It was good, but quite the challenge considering the poor French education that I had received previously. It was mostly fun though because it was a video conferencing class, and the only students from my school there were just my best friend, Steve, and I. So we had a blast singing songs and just going crazy.

When we were in grade eleven, we had this skit assignment. We were to make a skit and perform it in French in front of everyone, as well as the english version too just for fun. Of course since Steve and I were partners, we wanted to do something different from everyone else. We were always like that and extremely creative. So as a change, we decided to turn it into a film rather than a skit. So we made our script during the class time, then when we got home, we filmed the whole thing. Everyone in the class really seemed to enjoy the films a lot too, so we were a hit. Actually, after that, it seemed like everyone in our entire had decided to go on YouTube and watched our video. Everyone seemed to know about it, even the kids we had never talked to before had started asking us about it. We didn’t mind though of course.

That film was a James Bond parody if you must, featuring my best friend as James Bond and myself as the evil scientist. We decided to make the title and amalgamation of James Bond titles and called it: “James Bond: The Spy With The Golden Thunderballs”.

After that year, we had quite an urge to make another movie. Except this time with more freedom for our creativity that the French class didn’t allow us to explore. So we went ahead and created a rough script, but mostly with improv. It was just basically an outline of our actions and a couple lines that we thought we needed to add. That one we decided to start as a new series, since the first was basically all tied up. Plus we wanted something a tad more exciting. So we ended up developing “I Saw Bond’s Bats: The Love That Was Puzzled”. In the short, it was a love story between James Bond and BatShell (A Batman type character, but a girl), being tormented by Jigsaw from the Saw films.

Soon after that one, we decided to make a third film as a sequel to the second. We made more action and had a larger cast of characters as well, but still following the original storyline. This sequel we called, “I Saw Bond’s Bats… Again: The Jigsaw Comes Together”. I’ll leave it at that.

At the end of that third film there’s a bit of cliffhanger that we had intended upon finishing, but never really got around to it. I actually hope that we do in order to conclude the series. Maybe I should look into that… We even have a final script too.

Talks to Turtles

Right now I’m looking into my fish tank at my turtle, Mr. Bert. He’s a pretty good pet, he’s pretty quite, easy to please, confined to his tank, and best of all, he’s a good listener. Actually, a lot of the time I catch myself saying hi to him when I walk into my room, or even fully talk to him sometimes. Oh well, I’m a bit of a loner this summer so I gotta talk to someone, even if its just my turtle!

We have other pets too: a dog, a cat, several fish, a couple newts. But All of them are more bonded to my other family members than myself, so that’s why Mr. Bert and I have a special relationship.

He’s not my first pet though, that was actually a hamster that I bought with my sister when we were kids. Her name was

My Hamster Molly On Her First Birthday

Molly, after the doll from the Big Comfy Couch, which was quite the hit show for us in those days. She was one of those kinds that was a splotchy orange with white mix.

It actually took us quite some time to save up for her, a few months actually. We were quite determined children, probably no more than 10 neither. But every time our parents came home from work or we had customers, we would ask if they had any pennies, nickles or dimes that we could have to add to our collection. Usually we could get some amount of money, and whenever we got a dollar or a Toonie, we got pretty excited. Heck, we even went as far as checking everyone’s shoes for pennies too.

Eventually we did end up filling this coffee tin that we used to hold all of change. Its actually kinda funny, we were trying to save for enough to get a ferret, we thought they were the cutest little animals ever. But I think once my parents realized we were serious and getting quite a bit of change, they managed to convince us to settle for a hamster. I’m sure they got quite relieved when we did fall for their new idea.

We even decided that we would name her Molly before we got her, and even decided the colour of the one we wanted.

Also, before we went to the pet store, my parents decided to trade us our tin of change for some bills, just to ensure that the cashier wouldn’t turn us away.

We had Molly for a good couple of years, where she built a lot of memories that are still infused within my childhood. Actually, when Molly had turned 1, we even threw her a birthday celebration, and with my mothers help, we baked a cake for her too. A carrot cake of course too, because she loved to munch on carrots.

Who knows what kind of animals I’ll own in the future, but I’m not sure any could bring as much fun and enjoyment as Molly had in my childhood. But you never really know.

The Kids and The Crazies

I’ve been single since last summer, which has been fine with me since I’ve been pretty busy with school, living out of town, plus everything happening at home. Although since then, I have managed to squeeze in a couple dates here a and there as well. I will admit though, this summer I wish I lived somewhere with a bit more population, especially around my age, it would make my summer slightly more enjoyable and actually give me people to hang out with. But that’s not really what this post is about. Its about the type of girls I seem to attract and the ones that ask me out.

The title really says it all, most of the girls that get huge crushes or ask me out are the kids or the crazies! I don’t understand it, but that’s what it seems like for me. Maybe I have some sort of built in maniac magnet? Whatever it might be though, always makes for an awkward or interesting situation.

I figure that the best way to demonstrate this, would be to give a couple examples of the girls that have taken an interest in me. So here they are, in all their glory.

Marlene:

Marlene is a young lady that was friends with another girl that I hung out with from time to time. So needless to say, I saw her on a semi-often basis. I didn’t mind if she was around though because she was fairly quiet and didn’t bother us too much, but did give her two cents every once in a while.

A while ago though, my town had a community clean up event going, called the “Trash Bash”, where volunteers go around town and pick up any garbage that they find. Of course being such a small town, Marlene was there as well, and of course with my luck, the event organizer partnered her with me. But that was alright at the time, I didn’t really want to be with one of the old people that would go really slow. Plus I already knew Marlene so it limited the “getting to know small talk” that I hate so much.

During the Trash Bash, I was just being my silly self and of course cracked a lot of jokes and made Marlene laugh lots. So yes, I probably did have it coming, but who knew a girl almost half my age would be compelled to express that she liked me?

Yes, at the time I was 21 and she was 13. “Almost 14”, as she would say.

But at the end of the Trash Bash we packed everything up and returned our garbage sticks to the organizers. Then before I jumped in my car to leave, Marlene ran up to me… I figured she was going to ask for a ride or something, but boy, did she ever catch me off guard! I gotta give her an A for effort though and it was rather cute too.

She said, “I know your a bit older than me and going to college and everything”. Where I nodded and agreed, except its more like a LOT older than you and going to university… She continued saying, “but I really like you and was hoping that you would be my boyfriend?”. That’s where she really caught me off guard. I had no idea what to tell her and stumbled around a few opening words while hurrying to try and find something to say to let her down nicely. So I finally managed to get out something along the lines that she was right, she’s a lot younger than me and I’m too busy to have girlfriend so I didn’t think it was good idea.

The whole thing felt so awkward though and I felt like stabbing my eyeballs out the whole time.

Luckily she got the message, but once she turned 14, she decided to get a job where I work. So I guess she’s one of those people that you just can’t escape in a small town! So it feels a little awkward sometimes at work, even though she hasn’t bothered me anymore.

Natalie:

Natalie is an interesting one to say the least. I didn’t really have a choice of meeting her neither because at the start of the winter semester she was in my Chemistry class and sat beside me saying, “I will now be your friend and you will eventually come to terms with that”. So I guess we are friends, she’s very entertaining so I’m alright with that, in moderation though. But it gets better, later in the day I ended up having my Cell Biology class with her as well. So there was no escaping, she sat beside me there too, forcing our friendship the entire time.

After a while though, I found out why she was so weird. In one of our seminars for Cell Biology I was eating a puff wheat square for lunch, so Natalie decided to tell me all about how she tried to make them once when she was staying at a halfway house for the mentally insane.

For those that don’t know, a halfway house for the mentally insane is basically where crazy people go before getting integrated back into society.

Natalie is kinda creepy though, she always seems to know things that occur in my life before I even tell her. I do have her on Facebook, so that would explain it, except that I have her on a limited profile where she can’t see all that much… Also there’s this other Natalie in our class, so she makes a habit of stalking her and getting to know her without actually talking to her.

I have managed to escape getting asked out from Natalie, except she’s hinted quite a lot and is always touching my arms and trying to give me hugs. Usually I’m ok with that, I’m a very touchy person, but the way she does it makes it feel so weird and wrong. I’m not sure if its her cold and clammy hands or how she does it, but it gives me the chills.

I have managed to escape her some during the summer, but she warned me on Facebook last week that she’s super clingy and I should expect a huge tackle hug from her on the first day back.

So that’s only two examples, but there are more believe it or not. There’s Shelby from Physics, who likes to scratch her elbow and cackle at herself because of it. There’s also Darby, who’s incredibly young yet always hits on me in the weirdest ways. Hopefully I’ll start getting a little better luck with the type of girls that like me soon.

Zombies, Dinosaurs, A Girl, and My Recurring Dream

Over the last week and a half I have been having this one dream that’s always quite similar but a little different every time. What I mean is that the setting and events stay the same for the most part, but there are small changes and detail shifting within each dream. I’ll share the overall synopsis though and see what everybody else thinks.

It all started out in a small (but not too small), yet quaint and tight knit coastal community. By the looks of it, it could have passed as a secluded part of Hawaii or somewhere similar in the world. It was the type of of place where everyone in town knows me, are incredibly nice and there’s always this amazing street market going on, kinda like the ones you’d imagine seeing in the middle east (but with a coastal twist added).

It always appears to be a beautiful, warm and sunny summer day, that I always spent hanging out at a zoo with some friends. Sometimes I dream that I’m with two friends and sometimes with three. But as dreams go, it really wasn’t an ordinary zoo since it was devoted to reincarnating and keeping dinosaurs (Jurassic Park much?). Everything started out innocently enough too, we were just walking around, looking at the different exhibits and were having a wonderful time with lots of fun.

Suddenly, things started to turn for the worst.

For some reason, one of the dinosaurs managed to get out. Of course though, it had to be the king of all carnivores, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. At the moment that had happened, it didn’t pose an immediate threat though. The dinosaur was distracted chasing some poor (and probably underpaid) zookeeper for breakfast. So ultimately, the group of us decided to run for our SUV and get out of the area before anything happened to us. Or God forbid anymore dinosaurs escape.

I remember though, in the Jurassic Park movies when there was a Tyrannosaurus Rex around, the main character always advised everyone not to run. That probably would have been good advise, had Dr. Alan Grant have been in my dream because once we started running, the Tyrannosaurus immediately became interested in us and started its pursuit.

Luckily, as it usually is in small, tight knit communities, the doors weren’t locked on the SUV and it actually started how it was supposed to (Not like any cheesy, straight to DVD, cheap horror flicks). Everything occurring after that though was just like that off of a movie real.

One of my friends was driving, but I was riding shotgun. The giant Tyrannosaurus was getting incredibly close, but my friend was smart enough to step on the gas as fast as he could and get us moving away from the dino-zoo. Once on the road, heading towards town, he floored it. It wasn’t fast enough though, it only seemed like we were going the exact same speed that the huge carnivore was able to run.

But once reaching town from the short distance of the zoo, we were hit with our first roadblock. Literally.

The one road heading into town was blocked off for the towns street market. So in an instant, my friend slammed on the brake and everybody bailed from the SUV as the Tyrannosaurus was gaining on us, and fast too. We started running straight into the crowded yelling at people to run and get out of the way. It was that moment when I realized something else wasn’t right, the entire market was in quite a peril itself and it wasn’t even for the dinosaur that was getting ever closer.

It was something else.

I chanced slowing down to be able to take a look around and observe what made the town into a frenzy, but what I saw didn’t make anything better.

Some of the people in the market clearly weren’t normal. I recognized the faces, but what they were doing was completely wrong as human beings. They were gnawing on other peoples arms, legs, necks, and any other body part they could get their hands on. Everyone was screaming, fighting, pushing and getting eaten alive, not only by the newly found zombies, but also by the Tyrannosaurus that had now caught up with us and having a hearty meal of the townfolk I grew up with.

Once I figured out what was wrong though, I immediately made the wise decision to continue moving before the dinosaur got any closer than it dangerously was and also before one of the zombies could cling onto me for a fresh meal. So I ran. As fast as I could, jumping over the dead bodies of those that were bitten, soon to be the living dead themselves. I was so focused on avoiding the zombies and running carelessly fast through the market that I couldn’t give any attention to anything else, and lost compass of where my friends went.

A scream then filled the air.

There were people shouting, swearing and screaming everywhere, but this one scream stood out. I didn’t know why, but it snapped me out of my zone and I looked to see where it was coming from. I knew it couldn’t be too far judging by the sound of it, but I just had to see who it came from.

The scream came again. This time more forceful and clearly showed this girls life was on the line.

Hearing it that time, allowed my ears to help me pinpoint where it came from and I saw her instantly. It was a girl, probably a little younger than myself, about to get sandwiched by two zombies slowly closing in on her. I don’t think I knew her, but I knew that I had to help her.

So I changed the direction of my full on gallop to be straight towards her. I remember that I was considering whether I should hit her, or one of the zombies. But I decided to go with hitting her. Since there were two zombies, it was possible that one could still get her and I also didn’t want to take the risk of getting bitten myself. So I hit her. Well… More like body slammed her in my ungracefulness. But we didn’t have time to check our bodies for injury, I got up instantly and pulled her to her feet. I grabbed her hand and we ran. We ran as fast as the wind.

We were coming up on our second roadblock now, running straight towards the sea. As we came up to the side rails of the road, towering above the water, I took a moment to weigh our options. I didn’t want to take us back into the market, there were too many zombies and not to mention that dinosaur looming in the distance. To the left and right up the road, there wasn’t too much of a choice neither, those roads seemed filled souvenir shops and seaside diners/restaurants, with tonnes of people, many already overcome with the zombie disease.

Still holding this mysterious girls hand, I led her straight ahead in a run and jumped clear over the guard rails, sending us plummeting towards the water. We splashed in and immediately came back up to the surface, at that point was when my short plan ended.

Once again, I took a look around to survey the situation, and as luck would have it, I saw a small and abandoned row boat not more than 200 meters away, beached up on one of the few rocks that were along the walled off edge of the sea. When we got to it, I pulled it down into the water and prayed it didn’t have any considerable holes in it’s body.

After giving the small boat a quick look over, it appeared safe and ready to go. I helped the girl into the boat before getting in myself. I picked up the lone, old wooden paddle and began to row us away from our coastal paradise, that was now home to a zombie apocalypse.

Rowing away, I finally took a moment to look at the girl that I not-so-gracefully saved in the town market. I don’t know her name, heck, I don’t know a single thing about her. Except that, in that moment, in my dream; she was beautiful. Probably the most beautiful girl I could have ever seen. Unfortunately, that’s only the feeling I get. When I wake up from the dream, I can never remember the girls face, no matter how hard I try and how much I wish to. It just ends with us rowing away into our future, leaving me to wonder what happens in the end.

There it is. I’m not sure if dreams are hidden messages trying to tell me something, or if they are just a collection of our random thoughts, arranged in a way that makes sense to us. But this dream must have something to it since I’ve had it four or five times already. Maybe even more for the nights that I don’t remember my dreams. Usually I would blame it on watching a movie or reading a book along the same lines. Although thinking about it, it doesn’t make any sense. It’s been forever since I’ve watched any of the Jurassic Parks and months since the last time I saw “The Walking Dead”.

I just hope that next time I have this dream again, I’ll be able to see that one girls face as we row off into the sea.

Kinda makes me want to write a book too…

A Songwriting Session: “(She is) My Dreams Work Of Art”

Music is a pretty big portion of my life. I do play the guitar and played the Saxophone; karaoke and DDR is one of my most favorite past times and I can usually be caught singing some sort of song for every occasion.

But songwriting is actually very new to me.

Sure, I have written a couple fun and goofy songs that make no sense (like the ROFL-Copter Song), but this time I decided to sit down and really do some thinking and real writing. I didn’t really expect everything to go perfect and smoothly; it really didn’t and actually seems a little short. But I came out with a product, so I thought I should share it and get some feedback; after all, other people’s critiques and opinions is a great way for me learn and improve. Who know’s, maybe when I get a little better with writing words into lyrics, I will add some guitar parts to go along with it.

When I started writing this, I decided to go for something from my own experience, I figured that would be the easiest thing to write about. So I decided to write one about love of course, since its so generic and you can usually add a lot of fluff when needed. It’s about basically when I had a long distance and loving relationship (before the bitch cheated on me). We talk every day and we are basically twins, we had so much in common. Plus when we talk, we are free to talk about literally everything and anything, which is a liberty I only share with people I’m close to in my life. Now don’t make the mistake in thinking I’m still hooked on her, I’m far from that. In fact sometimes wonder why I even dated her for so long. Maybe the next song will be how she cheated on me to solidify that.

But here it is, I’m calling it “(She is) My Dreams Work of Art”:

God infiltrated my dreams one night,
Stole the girl and put her in my life.
Everything about her fit so perfectly,
I knew he had made her just for me.

I never saw it comin’
We were just innocently talkin’
But when I finally saw her eyes,
I knew she was perfect;
My angel in disguise.

Even though she’s so far away,
She makes me feel lucky everyday.
Even though we’re worlds apart,
I need to meet her, to stop this bleeding heart.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.

So tonight when she goes to sleep,
She can close her eyes and have the sweetest dreams.
Cuz not even this distance could keep us apart,
I knew I had to have her from the very start.

Then when she awakes the next day,
I’ll be gently waiting on her balcony.
But when I come I’ll be there to stay,
Where our love can dance the night away.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.

Even though she’s so far away,
She makes me feel lucky everyday.
Even though we’re worlds apart,
I need to meet, to stop this bleeding heart.

Oooohhhh I need to get her into my arms.
Oooohhhh She is my dreams work of art.
She is my dreams work of art.
